In recent past, the Indian Power Sector has undergone important transitional changes ever since the introduction of reforms and restructuring in trade, industry and commerce. In order to match with the changing phases of power sector development in India, NPTI, identified as a premier nodal institute for Advance Learning & Management Studies for higher echelons of power sector conceptualized the making of Centre for Advanced Management & Power Studies (CAMPS).

CAMPS has been established at NPTI’s Corporate Office, Faridabad with the aim of interfacing frontier technologies with management. CAMPS will have departments in specialized areas of Hydro, Thermal, Power System and Management Studies. The envisaged role of this Institute would be of echelons of Power Sector, training in advanced and frontier technologies, management areas, Training of Trainers, for Plant level Training Cells, State Power Training Institutes, Regional Power Training Institutes, providing consultancy assignments etc.

Since its genesis, CAMPS has been developing comprehensive capsule courses covering the Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Energy Efficiency, Environmental  Safety, Renewable Energy, Environmental Risk and Hazards, Infrastructure Finance, Privatization & Regulatory issues, Trading, etc.  Copious workshops, seminars and conferences are organized by CAMPS for dissemination of latest information to blend technology with management in order to create systems of excellence in the reforming power sector.
