What is the status of the course?

MBA (Power Management) at NPTI Faridabad is a full-time residential course duly approved by AICTE and is affiliated to Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak (Haryana) for the award of degree.

What do you award after the completion of the course?

It is a degree course not a certificate or diploma course. After successful completion of the course, we award Masters in Business Administration (Power Management) degree.

Post MBA, can somebody pursue Ph.D. or equivalent courses?

If you are an MBA (Power Management) from NPTI Faridabad, you are eligible for other higher courses, like Ph.D. or equivalent, from any AICTE or UGC recognized institution/university or abroad.

What are the eligibility and selection criteria for admission to MBA (Power Management)?

We admit candidates in two categories: sponsored and non-sponsored. For both the categories, minimum academic qualification for eligibility is a degree (B.E. / B.Tech.) in any branch of engineering with minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all semesters or equivalent in terms of CGPA grade. For non-sponsored candidates, we consider latest valid CAT score for short listing of the applicants for further processing. Final merit list is prepared by giving 70% weightage to CAT Score, 20% to GD and 10% to PI.

For sponsored candidates, CAT score is not required. Sponsored candidates should have authenticated certificate from the sponsorer. Final merit list for sponsored candidates is prepared by giving 60% weightage to total marks obtained in B.E./B.Tech, 20% to GD, 10% to PI and 10% for work experience as follows
Upto 5 years experience: 3 marks
5 to 8 years experience: 6 marks
8 to 10 years experience: 8 marks
Above 10 years experience: 10 marks

How many seats are available for different categories like General, OBC, SC, ST and Sponsored candidates?

We have an intake of 120. Of which, 105 are non-sponsored seats and 15 seats are for sponsored candidates. Reservation for different categories would be as per the policy directives of the Central Government.

What is the experience mix at NPTI?

We provide admission based on the criteria as stated in the Admission Bulletin but it has been observed that 50 – 60% of our students have had some prior work experience.

What kind of specialization does the course provide?

The overall course content gives 70% weightage to general management inputs and 30% weightage to power sector specific inputs with major focus on Power Finance, Regulations, T&D, Renewable Energy, Operations, Global Power Business, Business Development, Power HR, Entrepreneurship and Business Law.

What are the prospects after completion of the course?

MBA degree in Power Management brings tremendous opportunities spread over the whole value chain concerning the power sector in India and abroad. Also, one can pursue and major in traditional managerial disciplines like Finance, Strategic Management, Marketing and HR.

What kind of job assistance does NPTI provide?

We provide all possible job assistance to our students. Many top notch private firms regularly visit NPTI campus and provide suitable job opportunity to our students. As a matter of fact, NPTI has the record of 100% placement ever since the inception of the program. However, NPTI does not guarantee jobs.

Do public sector organizations offer employment opportunities through campus placement?

A few companies do provide employment to our students through campus placement route. We are in talks with major public sector firms to visit NPTI campus as prospective employers. Many of our MBA (Power Management) students have got suitable job opportunities in some public sector organizations through lateral entries.

What is the compensation being offered?

We have registered steady improvement in respect of compensation being offered to our students. About 90% of the current batch, class of 2011, has already been placed by February 2011 and the highest package (CTC) offered is over Rs 10.0 LPA. We expect to place the remaining very soon.

What about the level and portfolio they get?

Candidates are absorbed in both lateral and vertical slots as per their competencies, work experience and the requirement of the employer.

Does the employment prospect get affected by age factor?

Normally, age factor does not affect the employment prospects but the employers have their unqualified say in this matter.

What about residential / accommodation facilities for MBA students?

MBA (Power Management) at NPTI is a full time residential course. We provide well furnished on campus residential accommodations for both male and female students- both sponsored and non-sponsored. We provide family accommodations, depending on availability, to sponsored candidates if they apply for the same.
